Urgent Message for all People Entering the Sterling Chemicals Facility, Texas City, Texas:
The United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA), in conjunction with the United States Coast Guard, has issued new mandatory requirements for all Contractor employees wishing to enter the Sterling Chemicals Texas City facility in early 2009. Contractors must obtain a special government-issued Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card from the TSA for future entry into our plant. The process for obtaining a TWIC card involves on-line pre-enrollment (www.tsa.gov/twic), a visit to a TWIC Enrollment Center, and a follow-up visit to the same Enrollment Center to pick up the TWIC card when it is available. This process can take months to complete, and there is an associated fee. Contractors are highly encouraged to immediately pre-enroll at the TSA web site mentioned above and begin the application process. After January 1, 2009, Sterling Chemicals reserves the right to deny entry to any Contractor employee who cannot show possession of a TWIC card.
For a brief overview of the process for obtaining and using a TWIC card, you may download a “TWIC Information Packet” from the Sterling Chemicals section of the CSC/TC’s website by clicking this link: PLANT INFORMATION. For a full description of the TWIC program, and for answers to your questions, please visit www.tsa.gov/twic. |
