Successful completion of the SSV process will become a required prerequisite to the completion of the site specific programs for each petrochemical facility in Texas City. CSC/TC will assess a $5 fee per SSV to the contractor company. This will be a one- time charge and the SSV will be shown on the front of the ARSC Common Card with the CSC/TC location code (i.e. 07 SSV). The SSV will be reciprocal with other Safety Councils using the protocols established by HireCheck. There will be no fees for transferring the SSV from an acceptable reciprocal Safety Council. At the present time, the petrochemical owners served by CSC/TC don't plan on grandfathering contract workers from this process. Contract workers, whose training is scheduled to expire after September 2, 2003, will be required to have completed a successful SSV before training renewal. It is anticipated that the SSV search will be completed in 20 minutes or less and the impact will be minimal to the contract workers. Exceptions to the SSV requirement can only be made by the Safety/Security Departments of our Owner Companies (i.e. BP, Dow, Valero etc.). The SSV will require each contract worker to grant CSC/TC and HireCheck permission to conduct the SSV. The contract worker will complete an authorization form and the contract worker's electronic signature will be maintained by CSC/TC documenting permission to conduct the SSV. The SSV doesn't in any way impact a contract workers credit history. This type of inquiry is referred to as a "soft inquiry" and is not used to determine credit scoring. Any unsuccessful SSV will be managed by HireCheck in accordance with protocols and procedures established under the FCRA. We will attempt to communicate additional information on the SSV process via the "The Informer-Online" in the days ahead. We plan on SSV being a precursor to security background checks currently scheduled for implementation in the Spring of 2004. Sincerely, ![]() As
you have learned from Ron's article (From the Top), operations at
CSC/TC are continuing to change and improve to meet the needs of
our contractors and industry. Every new program, requirement or idea
CSC/TC implements effects Council operations and in doing so affects
your visit with us. Completing a Social Security Verification (SSV)
at the time of registration does not need to be a negative experience.
CSC/TC has made every effort to expedite and simplify this process.
An authorization form for SSV will be provided to each student entering
our building. This will allow the student to read the form prior
to registration checkin. At the registration desk, the student will
be asked to provide photo I.D. (a current requirement) and sign an
electronic signature pad authorizing the SSV. Students will then
continue with our current check in procedures. 1.

![]() What does it mean when I get a message on the online registration that my account has been flagged? The accounting system at CSCTC automatically “flags” accounts whose membership has expired or those who have past due open balances over 120 days old. When the account is flagged no further activity or training is allowed until the membership is renewed or the past dues invoices are paid. This flagging safeguard helps control excess costs for CSCTC and ultimately keeps the contractor prices down. How can I resolve my “flagged” account? The CSCTC accepts cash, checks, or Visa, MasterCard, Diners and American Express for payments. Should there be a disputed invoice, every opportunity is given to the client to prove prior payment or unsolicited training charges. Accounts can be manually “unflagged” with proof of payment although the system routinely will “reflag” all accounts over 120 days monthly. What are the terms of payment for CSCTC? The CSCTC terms are Net 30 days. Who can I talk to about my account? Anna Horvath at 409-948-9009 Ext 104 or ahorvath@csctc.org or Judy Bone at 409-948-9009 Ext 103 or jwbone@csctc.org is available from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday thru Thursday and Fridays 7:00 am until 3:30 pm. How
do I know when my membership is about to expire? The CSCTC
sends membership renewal letters to each contractor 60 days in advance
of membership expiration. We request that you either send in payment
for renewal or send back the letter requesting that you be invoiced
for membership renewal. Also at the time of membership renewal you
are asked to update your customer information such as proper mailing
address and contact numbers. We also request that you include an
email address so that we may contact you with council news. Your
email address is used only for our contact purposes and is not sold
or transmitted to any other outside source. ![]() Online Registration: Questions and Answers What do I need to have in order to use CSC/TC's Online Registration? First, you must be a CSC/TC member, in good standing, so that you can be assigned login privileges. Second, contact David Walker at (409) 948-9009 x113 to obtain the information so that you can log into "Virtual Safety Council" (VSC). What is "Virtual Safety Council"? VSC is CSC/TC's member portal that gives them a number of options that can be used to obtain information about their company. Online Registration and Training History by Trainee are are current options in VSC. In the next few months, more options will become available. What can I do when I have a problem using Online Registration? Call David Walker for help - at (409) 948-9009 x113. Why can I not find PFT, QNFT or Audiometric for selection when I am using "Registration by Course"? Because a from is required to be filled out for each of the three components - PFT, QNFT and Audiometric, it is not possible to register by course or jobsite. Register these workers by using "Registration by Trainee". CSC/TC thanks those members who are using Online Registration, and encourages those that are not to give it a try.
